Kansas Determination of Descent

Recently, I filed a petition for a Kansas determination of descent for a client living in Oregon. She is the sole heir at law of a decedent who owned tracts of land in Barton County. After the court entered the decree of descent, I recorded the decree to establish legal title in the real estate. My client moved to Great Bend and is living in real property she inherited from her father’s estate.

A client in Oregon needed a Kansas probate lawyer to assist her in obtaining a decree of descent in an estate in Hodgeman County, Kansas. This estate included multiple parcels of real estate located in Hodgeman County. The representation required reviewing the register of deed property records dating back approximately 100 years. I filed the Kansas determination of descent petition and obtained the decree.

I represent a client appointed as the legal guardian and conservator for his minor niece. He needed to open up a probate estate to sell real estate owned by his deceased sister. The minor niece is the sole heir at law of the decedent. The funds from the sale of the real estate will be transferred to the conservatorship once the probate estate is closed.
